Pastor Dennis D. Austin Jr. is a native of Sacramento, California. Growing up in the home where he was first inspired and mentored by his grandfather, the late Pastor James L. Moody and his grandmother the late 1st Lady Rosa P. Moody of Northgate Church of God in Christ, he pursued his passion in music where he played the piano, organ, and drums.
In 2004, Pastor Dennis became a member of Higher Heights Tabernacle of Praise under the leadership of the late Pastor Jack L. Scott, where he continued his music ministry. There, Pastor Scott continued to inspire and mentor him to pursue his calling in the ministry. During this time, he was appointed Sunday school teacher, Minister, acted as the Youth Pastor and other leadership roles in the ministry.
Pastor Dennis struggled with accepting the calling that God had placed on his life to become an Elder in the church. While he grew up going to church he never experienced God in all his glory until he had a life changing encounter. He was found in a place of brokenness and total surrender. His mother, Missionary LaJuan Moore and the late Pastor Scott continued to encourage him to work in the vineyard and preach God’s word.
After this experience Pastor Dennis followed through with the calling on his life that God had placed before him to continue to study God’s word. In August 2012 he was ordained as an Elder and was given the authority to go and preach the gospel and spread God’s word.
On March 4, 2018, the Late Pastor Jack Scott appointed Pastor Dennis as the Assistant Pastor of Higher Heights Tabernacle of Praise. That day was a true day of remembrance as it was not only his birthday, he was given the baton to assist Pastor Scott.
